ABSTRACT

A number of conflicts arise out of the subconscious value system that applies to reason and irrationality. It is the leftover of the value systems discussed by Greek philosophers such as Plato. The successful adaptation of old symbols to changes of social structure is the final mark of wisdom in sociological statesmanship. The concept behind the first wrong communication was one where the listener was seen as a passive recipient of the message. Communication, however, is a two-way street, a dialogue. Feeling, like the rest of mental capacities, has been gradually developed in the struggle for existence. Mood is, therefore, another important aspect in the communicative process that has often more significance than the verbal content of the message being communicated. Too often strategy in human communications is based on the verbal significance of a message rather than on its implied one.
