ABSTRACT

Invitation skills “invite” others to experience themselves as a part of the team. They are designed to be used with anyone who joins the team or anyone think may not feel a part of the team. Invitation skills include creating visual, auditory and tactile connections. Warmth skills help other people feel comfortable and safe with the team. Sensitive-listening skills, used in the early part of the relationship, are designed to understand the other person’s view without interference of one's own view. Sensitive listening occurs when one listen to accept another person’s view without the obstruction of their own need to judge, criticize, moralize, advise or appear to “know it all.” Sensitive listening involves simply listening to accept how the other person sees things. Questioning skills are designed to gain relevant information from a person in a way that is safe, encouraging and non-threatening.
