ABSTRACT

In India, those who are in hiding from the police are called absconders. In large cities it is fairly easy to remain hidden, so long as the absconder gives up his work and stays away from his usual haunts. But when he plans for even more activity than usual, it is a very different matter, and requires much ingenuity and ample resources. Even so, just as professional criminals are bound sooner or later to be caught in the widecast net of the police, it is only a matter of time when the active revolutionary, too, however resourceful, will be caught. But it is a great game while it lasts, and its days of breathless activity, the hardships and dangers endured, the touching kindnesses received, as well the not infrequent ludicrous episodes, are well worth having experienced.
