ABSTRACT

The purpose of the Enablement phase is to build on the Foundations phase. It will develop the organizational guidelines and rules for the implementation of business process management (BPM) activities throughout the organization. It is a prerequisite for any top-down BPM activity that will usually comprise either a large-scale BPM program(s) or an enterprise-wide business transformation program. This chapter builds upon the BPM Foundations established and agreed in the last phase. BPM Enablement refers to the provision of the key architectures, detailed elements and guidelines that are necessary to support and enable business capabilities to enhance the successful delivery of all components of the BPM strategy. The chapter provides the link between the organization's strategy, the BPM Foundations supporting the strategy and the Launch pad phase where programs and projects are initiated. The establishment of basic Foundations and Enablement models and principles need not take months or cost a large amount of money if approached in a pragmatic way.
