ABSTRACT
The Torrent Research Centre is located on the edge of Ahmedabad within a large ‘science park’ setting beside the Sabarmati river. Ahmedabad is the major commercial and industrial city in Gujarat, North-West India, and has historically been associated with the production of textiles. The Torrent Research Centre is a pharmaceutical industrial development in Ahmedabad, India. The rapidly expanding modern city continues to be a vibrant commercial centre with a global reach. The Torrent Research Centre is a successful example of integrated design which reflects close collaboration between the design team and the client. The building continues to operate successfully which also reflects regular and effective maintenance of the building and its systems. The continuity of the management personnel and their understanding of the system’s maintenance requirement and operation has been vital for the successful implementation of the seasonal cooling strategies and the resulting energy savings and high level of satisfaction of the occupants.
