ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 offers a corpus-based comparison of the levels of interaction between different industrial sectors in the communication of nutritional deficiency risks. It builds upon the corpus analysis of the distribution and occurrence of translated Chinese nutritional terms in the global Chinese language digital news database and the mainland Chinese digital news database in Chapter 2. As outlined in Chapter 1, the assessment of levels of cross-sectoral interaction between industries in the global Chinese digital news dataset provides the benchmark for the study of inter-sectoral communication of nutritional health risks in national contexts. Chapter 3 discusses the corpus findings which underline important and systematic differences between the two databases under comparison. The empirical study sheds new light on the cross-cultural communication of nutritional deficiency risks to inform policy making at the national level.
