ABSTRACT

The Learner-Active, Technology-Infused Classroom is a social environment where students learn with and from one another; the same should apply to the school’s educators. Most schools have some number of faculty meetings each month that can be used to foster powerful conversations. They are used as dissemination venues, with the principal or director making announcements to the listening audience. Sometimes, school leaders cancel the faculty meeting if there’s no new information to share. That mindset speaks to faculty meetings as an unpopular dissemination venues. The teacher might simply need a list of steps to follow to get on track, which can then later lead to a more generative conversation. Consider promoting some digital conversations, particular in an age where people are often glued to their phones adding sound bites to social media. A conversation allows for the free flow of thoughts, ideas, experiences, questions, and answers. Tough conversations should not be mean or bad; they should be honest and productive.
