ABSTRACT

This chapter helps students through the writing review process. The end result will be a comprehensive compilation of notes that someone will make as they read the articles, with specific, detailed information about each reference. The process takes in various steps are: scan the articles to get an overview of each one; based on students prereading of the articles, group them by category and conduct a more focused literature search if gaps appear. The steps also incude: organize themself before reading the articles; create a spreadsheet or table to compile students notes; remain flexible as students compile thier notes and take extra care when copying an author's exact words. Longer articles will often contain additional headings and subheadings, such as assumptions, definitions, experimental treatments, and limitations. Organizing the articles into categories will facilitate students analysis if they read all the articles in each category or subcategory at about the same time.
