ABSTRACT

It requires no great imagination to realize that the ‘company’ about which I am going to speak here means the Church. The word Church was probably avoided in the title because it immediately provokes defensive reactions in the vast majority of people today. We have already heard, they say to themselves, all too much about the Church, and more often than not what we have heard has not been encouraging. The word Church and the reality it stands for have been discredited. It seems that even constant reform can hardly do much to change this situation. Or is it just that so far no one has discovered the kind of reform that could make of the Church a company worth belonging to?
