ABSTRACT

Collections form a museum's foundation, its core and primary reason for its existence. If there is no collection any more, a museum must close. Collections will always be a constant source of care. A lot of energy, money and work goes into delaying the natural process of decay as long as possible. But taking care also gives a lot of pleasure: in sensing special object, in doing research, in passing on knowledge about artefacts, and in the awareness that next generations will be able to enjoy these objects.
