ABSTRACT

I have described what is happening in contacts between individual tutors and their students, and how that might impact on a choice of strategies and media. But what about the course designers: who is adopting blended learning, on which courses, with which students, and what influences their decisions? My aim in this chapter is to describe current practice in blended learning in a variety of institutions, and to illustrate the influence of the teaching and learning environment on decisions to adopt a blended strategy, using extracts from a range of case studies.
