ABSTRACT
The economies of Central Europe, more robust than most in the region, have made great strides toward privatization. Yet, at the same time, they are experiencing a growing income gap between rich and poor, and unemployment remains a major problem in several countries. Since 1989, Central Europe has lost 4.8 million jobs.
