ABSTRACT

Shelley, Posthumous Poems (1824); Edinburgh [Scots] Magazine, 2nd Series, XV (July 1824), 11–17. Among the periodicals that passed over Shelley in silence during his lifetime (p. 12) were Constable’s Edinburgh Review and Constable’s Edinburgh Magazine. Some hostile comments on Shelley are to be found in the Edinburgh Magazine’s reviews of Byron’s Sardanapalus [etc.] and, especially, in the review of the first number of The Liberal, also included with the reviews of Byron.
