In the best rock’n’roll there’s clearly a sense of release, of exhilaration at breaking through musical and social conventions, of recording for the first time something wild and revolutionary, creative and fresher than tomorrow. When Elvis yells ‘Hit it!’ at the
start of the guitar solo in ‘Baby Let’s Play House’ you can hear that sort of excitement in his voice.
