Though often quoted in Internet and e-commerce literature, the term business model has no uniform denition. In this text, we will dene an Internet business model as follows:

An Internet business model is an organisation’s strategic business system for producing a customer oriented value proposition. The business system is composed one or more targeted customer segments; hardware and software architecture, the organisation’s product oering; the organisation’s business partners and associated resources required to achieve the organisational objectives.
