ABSTRACT

It may appear as though this chapter ignores those rare situations in which the media descends upon a school rapidly and in mass. These times, known as crisis situations, require even more skill and careful planning, for they do not allow educators to take time to think and craft a careful response. For this reason, they are omitted from this chapter and are, instead, the subjects of a future chapter.
