ABSTRACT

Sometimes, parents are in a mood to complain. The key to all these tales of adversity is to retain some perspective. A parent is fuming; it usually is based on one of two scenarios: Here is how the parents' consultation may play out. One call out the name of the next student on their list. This is the point at which to hold your nerve and ask them if there is anything they would like to ask about, discuss or draw to their attention at the outset. With the complaints above, some are in your control; others may not be. The complaint about setting may be something that is decided by the head of department and is beyond your area of influence. Having acknowledged that the parents feel that there is an issue that has not been addressed, propose what will happen next. All of this represents a polite, purposeful and professional way of dealing with a parent's concern.
