ABSTRACT
The bomb was designed to create a wide but shallow crater in the jungle, literally creating an instant landing zone. A very large bomb rolled out of the tailgate of a C-130 airplane, which would blow up above ground, leveling the vegetation and creating an instant LZ. Then one brought in an air strike on the spot one selected for the instant LZ. The reported practice by US troops of interrogating a group of suspected Viet Cong in a helicopter, throwing those who refused to answer to their death below and thus encouraging cooperation from those left US.
