ABSTRACT

Alisia’s parents were from Mexico, and she was raised within a culture that places strong emphasis on family. When she became pregnant at age sixteen she had the child. Today, looking back, she feels she might have chosen abortion then if that had been an option. At that time she, like many women, simply managed as best she could. Alisia feels grateful that abortion was available later in her life, because it gave her the option of having the rest of her children when she wanted them.
