ABSTRACT

I have found through the years that my earliest attempts to alter my approaches in therapy have often been the most informative and creative. As my work evolves, I have found that clients are rich sources of wisdom, providing opportunities for my own growth as we cooperatively seek to reauthor their lives. The work of Michael White and David Epston has had a terrific effect on my therapeutic stance and my interaction with clients. 1 My movement toward a more narrative focus while remaining sensitive to context opened up the following story.
