ABSTRACT

Many clients respond positively when therapy takes a form that is different from typical talk-oriented therapy. Therapists facilitate that“ah-ha” experience for clients when they attempt to reach them in ways other than solely through language. In addition, clients often speak of themselves in“parts.” A typical example is the individual who thinks of leaving a relationship who says,“Part of me wants to stay, but part of me wants to go!” This intervention takes into account both of these ideas in a way that has been very useful for clients.
