ABSTRACT

The Prayer of the Apostle Paul (hereafter Pr. Paul), originally composed in Greek, is preserved only in a Coptic text now part of the collection of writings called the Nag Hammadi Library. 1 Pr. Paul is the front flyleaf of the first Codex, known as the Jung Codex. Since the handwriting resembles that of the conclusion of the last text of Codex I, rather than the handwriting at the beginning of the Codex, it is quite likely that the scribe added Pr. Paul to the collection after he (or she) finished the Codex. As in many ancient manuscripts, the title is placed at the end of the text.
