ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the previous chapters of this book. The Reggio Approach to early childhood, and how it has influenced early years practice in the United Kingdom (UK), shows how many values and principles we have in common. There are clear differences between the United Kingdom and Reggio Emilia in northern Italy. Our early childhood services have been developed against a different historic, cultural, geographic, political and economic background. The key to improving quality in early year's settings is to develop reflective practice among all practitioners. Understanding more about the Reggio Approach will help you to develop high-quality practice which is appropriate to your own culture and context. We hold the same key principles of quality in early years practice: actively listening to children and respecting their ideas, fostering children's creativity, creating an effective and attractive environment for learning and development and valuing the contribution of parents, carers and families.
