ABSTRACT

Christopher Day is senior lecturer and Head of the In-Service Unit in the School of Education, University of Nottingham, where he is responsible for the management of a wide range of in-service opportunities for serving teachers. He has worked extensively in primary and secondary schools, initial teacher training and LEA advisory services. His current responsibilities include directing/tutoring regional and national management programmes for primary school headteachers and curriculum leaders, in partnership with LEAs and trainers. Recent publications include: ‘Managing primary schools: a professional development approach’ (Harper and Row, 1985); ‘Staff development in the secondary school: management perspectives’ (Croom Helm, 1986); and ‘Appraisal and professional development in the primary school’ (Open University Press, 1987).
