ABSTRACT
My father was one of seven children—three boys and four girls—born to his parents over nearly twenty years. The eldest two had been bom in Austria before my grandparents came here, in the first days of this century, to Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side. My father, William, was the first child bom here.
