ABSTRACT

Computers and Writing: The Cyborg Era is a book that explores the landscape of the contemporary computers and writing community, emphasizing the challenges and opportunities before us. The book’s chapters are organized into three sections-past, present, and future-and each chapter presents a new approach to thinking about theory and practice in computers and writing, from questioning and extending what we know of its history, to shaping instances of its pedagogy to promote equity and diversity. I write as a practitioner, a participant-observer with a professional and personal investment in the computers and writing community’s growth and development.
