ABSTRACT

You are well groomed, quiet, and reserved. Your pay careful attention to what the interviewer says to you and weigh each word carefully. You answer questions but only with very brief answers. For example, if asked who is in your family you say, “Mom and my two brothers.” If asked if you are uncomfortable being interviewed, you say, “yes.” You are angry at being interviewed and view the interviewer as “another outsider who thinks he or she knows everything.” Despite this hostile attitude, you have a lot of self-control and behave respectfully. The only sign of your anger is the overemphasis you may give to certain words in your answers. For example, if asked if you know why you are being interviewed, you say, “Yes, SIR” or “Yes, MA’AM.” While answering questions, you stare into your lap. If the interviewer makes enough supportive comments to you, you gradually open up and become more talkative.
