Transboundary Cooperation in Action for Integrated Water Resources Management and Development in the Lower Mekong Basin

Millions of people in Southeast Asia are bound together by the Lower Mekong River. Given the importance of irrigated agriculture and hydropower generation for national development, the cooperative management of this common resource is a major development challenge for Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam and Thailand. The Mekong River Commission and its predecessor the Mekong Committee were created to address this challenge.
