ABSTRACT

Using the earlier theoretical model and the comprehensive index framework of the film industry, this chapter discusses the revised model, according to the new research results and the latest data to analyze the world’s top nine box office countries. It shows that the United States has always been number one in the composite index, while China has risen from fifth in 2010 to second place in 2017. The deficiency of the Chinese film industry’s production strength is due to its low industrial efficiency and insufficient industrial influence. At present, the international ranking of the production strength of the Chinese film industry still fails to match its economic strength. Measures to improve the efficiency and international influence of the Chinese film industry are vital.
