ABSTRACT

In order to gain and retain credibility from referrers, the process should be as quick and as hassle free as possible. Those making the referral are likely to be concerned and anxious to deal quickly with the patient, who is in a crisis, and they may be tempted to admit them to hospital or send them to the emergency room if the MCHT process does not work smoothly. If you are fortunate enough to be the gatekeeper, as Hoult suggests, you don’t have that worry.
