ABSTRACT

It has already been demonstrated that a particular feature of tapestry conservation, within the wider field of textile conservation, is the need to consider some degree of visual reintegration. This chapter will focus on the aspect of visual reintegration, rather than structural support, and will consider some of the different approaches which have been used at the Textile Conservation Centre (TCC), since it was established in 1975, to infill damaged or missing areas of the image on tapestries.
