ABSTRACT
The aims of this chapter are to:
Outline the current relationship between World Heritage and tourism
Explore the relationship between tourism and World Heritage Sites with particular regard to visitor trends at sites
Examine some of the current issues pertaining to the ‘sustainability’ of the World Heritage List and explore some of the corresponding likely impacts on visitor trends
Identify some of the future issues for World Heritage Sites with regard to the development of tourism in States Parties and some of the measures necessary to meet the needs and demands of visitors.
