This chapter aims to present an overview of contemporary issues facing the luxury goods industry. It reviews the links between fashion and luxury goods, and the concept of luxury in an apparently overloaded luxury market. There is a breakdown of four leading luxury brand groups although it should be noted that the large groups such as LVMH are always reviewing their company and brands portfolios. It is possible that in the currently weak global economic climate, LVMH and others may divest some brands from their portfolios thus changing the current structure of the group.
