Sport and tourism policy: the national and regional policy contexts for sport tourism destinations

WithMike Weed

Policy development for sport and for tourism can be conceptualized as taking place within sectorized arenas called policy communities. A policy community refers to those groups sharing an interest in a policy sector that interact with each other on a regular basis to maximize the benefits of their relationships with each other. They include government departments and agencies, voluntary clubs and associations, commercial sector firms, charities, and any other group or individual with an interest in the development of policy in a particular sector.
