ABSTRACT

The major factor in IT performance is personnel performance. If there is a lack of motivation, then the work suffers. Morale has received a great deal of attention and it will get some here. However, there is another problem at the heart of many IT problems-lack of teamwork. People in IT often work as individuals. Most project meetings deal with status so that teamwork is left for the people on their own. Since most work in IT is individually assigned, there is little encouragement for IT staff to work with others. While management in IT may preach teamwork, their actions of individual assignments and lack of providing a forum for teamwork speak far louder.
