ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book highlights some of the key issues that need to be addressed when examining the potential future of wine tourism around the world, including the research needs of the organizations involved in wine tourism at both a business and a regional level. It examines the future of wine tourism around the world in terms of both products and markets and the inter-relationships between wine, tourism and regional development, including a separate exhibit by Stephen Page, which discusses wine tourism and rural development in the new millennium. The book provides a case studies and examples which illustrate the complexity and diversity of wine tourism and what it offers the wine and tourism industries as well as their communities and consumers. It explores how the initiatives and activities of wine tourism entrepreneurs are assisted and boosted by public sector marketing assistance.
