Antonio: ‘But not just the victories, remember that since the 1960s the club has had great players that have been considered reference points in the major countries of the world. In Spain, perhaps the most highly rated were Gárate, Luis and Adelardo, although as you can see (cf. Annexe 5), the club has also had international-calibre players such as Hugo Sánchez, Schuster, Luis Pereira … and in the club’s history many coaches have sat in the dugout to direct the team. Some did it better than others, some were more committed than others. Great footballing figures have passed through Atlético’s dugout (Annexe 5)’.
