DRM (digital rights management) and content security are essential features of any video delivery system, because they are required to protect the ownership rights of content providers. In most cases, the companies and individuals who want to distribute content need to purchase the rights to do so from content owners. Usually, these rights are limited in some way-to a specific number of broadcasts, to a defined period of time, to a certain number of views/downloads, or to any other restriction to which the content owners and distributors agree. These rights are usually spelled out in detail in a contract (license) between the parties.
