This chapter takes the perspective of the coach and their professional development. There is a (hopefully short-lived) vogue for people to call themselves ‘ master-coaches ’ – yet the essence of mastery is that it is always on the horizon. The more we learn about coaching and mentoring, the greater our recognition of the gap between the professional we are and the professional we could be. The techniques and approaches presented here represent some of the most common and significant issues we have encountered in coach/mentor development.
