ABSTRACT
Thailand has recognized that the development of agriculture is a difficult process. As in many countries, unemployment and the number of landless laborers in Thailand have grown and real wage rates in agriculture have fallen. The government tried to solve this problem. Because Thailand has a great amount of income from tourism they have set up the idea of farms being agro-tourism tourist attractions. Many educators, researchers and specialists have advocated the idea. Agrotourism is a kind of ecotourism, based on a philosophy of sustainable development. Tourists will learn about the way of life and culture of people living in communities through agro-tourism. Moreover, this is in accordance with the 8th and 9th national plans of economic and social development that emphasized the community strength for an adjustment and community participation in the development. (Aphirom Phomjanya & et al, 2003:1) The most important national strategy at present is to eliminate poverty, especially in rural areas.
