ABSTRACT
Reports indicate that the incidence of leiomy omata, or fibroids, in pregnancy varies between 0.5% and 7%.1-3 Leiomyomata are more com monly found among older women and black women.4 Leiomyomata are 3 to 9 times more common in black than in white women.5 In this chapter we intend to discuss the natural history of uterine leiomyomata in pregnancy, the diag nosis, the outcome of pregnancy in women with uterine leiomyomata, and the place of myomec tomy during pregnancy and at the time of cesarean section.
