ABSTRACT

CASE PRESENTATION A healthy 66-year-old woman reported the sudden onset of jaw tremor 4 years previously, which had progressed slowly to the present time. It occurred only when speaking (especially the letter ‘s’) or attempting to drink from a glass, and disappeared when eating or at rest. It did not interfere with chewing or swallowing and she was unaware of voice tremor or dysarthria. The tremor was embarrassing, was aggravated by stress, and improved following a glass of wine. There was no family history of tremor or dystonia and no exposure to neuroleptic drugs. A swallowing study was normal.
