ABSTRACT

Nocturia is a common and often bothersome symptom in older men1,2. Nocturia may result in sleep disturbance, daytime fatigue and a lower level of general well-being, and is a risk factor for night-time falls3-5. Many physicians consider nocturia a sign of increased nocturnal urine production6, which may represent a pathological condition reflective of congestive heart failure, venous stasis or hormonal changes with aging, or of lower urinary tract symptoms4,7-9.
