ABSTRACT

References For centuries patients have utilized a variety of home remedies to treat warts. Some of the superstitious ‘curing’ therapies include rubbing a dusty toad on the wart, rubbing a used washcloth over the wart then burying it in the hope that the wart will disappear as the cloth rots, and rubbing a cut potato on the wart and then throwing the potato over a fence.1 Although scientifically these remedies seem quite foolish, the public often sees them as inexpensive options with minimal side effects that allow them to avoid expensive physicians or offer hope when allopathic medicine fails.
