ABSTRACT

The parallel crossing features a 1662-m (5,400-ft) long suspension bridge with an 853.7-m (2,800-ft) main span, matching the existing bridge. Tower height exceeds 152-m (500-ft). Towers are supported on 39.6-m (130-ft) by 24.4-m (80-ft) dredged caissons that extend up to 53.7-m (176-ft) below sea level to the ocean floor where they are embedded in approximately 18.3-m (60-ft) of glacial till. If the future lower deck is implemented, a second suspension cable with separate suspenders and a modified truss will be designed and added to the structure.
