ABSTRACT
To date, reports of device-based post-MI septal rupture closure remain anecdotal, with little intermediate-or longterm definition of outcome, thus making suggestions of ‘optimal technique’ of limited utility. As such ultimately become better defined as per outcomes assessments, certain concepts, nonetheless, suggest that double umbrella devices will sustain a sentinel role in their application to this indication. The reader is referred to chapter 36 regarding double umbrella closure of congenital muscular VS defects for additional specific discussion of the concepts outlined below.
