This review of changes in the geography of leisure in the UK makes particular reference to the process called consumption, which will be more fully explained in a later section (pp. 268-71). Here, suffice it to say, leisure has become much more commercialised during recent years and this has led to new patterns and locations of leisure development and activity. The attraction of UK leisure sites in terms of global tourism is an important influence on the kinds of places and sites that have been developed. Tourism and leisure overlap as activities and many attractions are valued for both.
