Social isolation: A combined analysis
In this chapter we will review the main findings of our study: the starting points, the typology of social contacts, the relation with individual, socialenvironmental and societal themes. In Section 12.4 we will inter-relate the possible causes for social isolation by means of a multinomial regression analysis in which combinations of the most important variables are used. This will allow us insight into the relative importance of individual and societal factors for social isolation. Section 12.5 discusses specifically the consequences of social isolation for someone’s personal, social-environmental and societal well-being. Research questions 4 and 5 will be discussed in the Chapters 13 and 14.
