ABSTRACT

Dear Consultant: The most difficult feeling I deal with as a group therapist is fear about being attacked verbally. I’m now 6 months into an open-ended interpersonal group, and I have been experiencing this very intensely. As a 35-year-old woman leading this highly sophisticated group of young professionals, all of whom have lots of individual therapy experience, I’m sure you’ll find my fear to be realistic, but I’ve crossed over into feeling real dread. I have actually looked at the calendar to see which Monday nights are holidays to see which nights I could cancel group.
