The history of bioelectromagnetic medicine has been marked by confusion, controversy, and a profusion of quack devices. A number of individuals, such as Anton Mesmer, Albert Abrams, and Wilhelm Reich, introduced energy ‘therapies’ that are widely considered to be fraudulent, although they continue to have many supporters.
